Community Quilts

Community quilts are an important aspect of our Guild.  Throughout the year we donate quilts to a variety of organizations and families within the Tri Community of Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Parkland County.  Although lap and wheelchair quilts* are our primary focus, we also do preemie quilts**, octopuses and knitted hats for the Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit as well as fidget blankets for dementia units.

* Wheelchair quilts should be 36x45 inches finished. A soft warm backing such as flannel would be nice.

**Preemie quilts are made with at least one side made of flannel, 20x20 inches finished size and with or without batting. The restrictions are: no invisible thread and no tying of the quilts.

Sew Days

Sew Days are so much fun. It’s a great way to get to know other members. They are held the second Tuesday of the Month at the Stony Plain United Church. If you’re not able to join us in person there are sew days available via zoom, five days a week. Dates, times, and zoom links are available on the Members Only section of the website or County Quilters Guild Facebook Members only.

Retreats

Retreats are a wonderful weekend of socializing, learning, and sharing.  Three days of no housework, cooking, dishes, husbands, or children.  Time to pamper yourself, and enjoy doing what you love to do with your quilting friends.

Typically, our retreats are held in October from Friday to Sunday at Camp He Ho Ha located on the shores of Lake Isle.  If you feel you need a break from sewing, there are lots of trails for a walk.

Youth Program

CQG recognizes that the youth of today are the quilters of tomorrow. We are in the development stage of the program.  More to come….

Show & Tell

An important aspect of our monthly Guild meeting is Show and Tell.  It is an opportunity for our members to inspire other members when they show and talk about the project they have completed.
